Christmas Light Installation in Houston and Galveston β 2023
In 2023 we added Christmas light installation to our services. I figured we'd pick up a handful of jobs since we were already out on rooflines doing exterior paint work and our crew is comfortable on ladders. What actually happened was the schedule filled up by mid-November and we had to stop taking new bookings. That was a good problem to have, and it told me this was a real need in the area.
Here's what we're offering this season and what to know if you're thinking about booking.
Why People Hire Out Christmas Light Installation
The main reason, honestly, is the roof. A lot of homes in League City, Friendswood, and Kemah are two-story. Getting on the roof of a two-story house with a ladder and a box of lights from Home Depot is how people get hurt. Most households don't own a ladder tall enough for that job, and even if they do, working near a roofline without experience is risky. We do it every day.
The second reason is time. Hanging lights on a two-story home the right way β running the strand evenly, clipping at the roofline, no visible wires, no sagging sections β takes a few hours even for us. For someone who does it once a year, a Saturday afternoon turns into a Sunday too and the job still doesn't look the way they wanted.
And then there's the takedown. That part nobody looks forward to. Our service includes takedown in January and we store the lights until the following season. You don't touch them until we show up to put them back up next year.
What the Service Includes
We use commercial-grade LED lights, not the box store strands. The difference matters. Commercial lights are brighter, they're more consistent in color from bulb to bulb, and they last. The cheap strands you buy at Walmart are designed for one or two seasons. They dim over time, individual bulbs burn out, and the clips break. We've seen plenty of DIY installs where half the lights are out by Christmas Day.
Our service covers installation, a walkthrough with you to confirm everything looks right, takedown in January, and storage. When we come back next year, we test every strand before we go up. If something stopped working during storage, we deal with it β not you.
When to Book and What We Cover
Book in October if you want a November install date. Once we hit the first week of November, the schedule gets tight. December bookings are hit or miss depending on the year β 2023 we stopped taking new clients on December 5th because we were fully booked through the season.
We serve League City, Friendswood, Kemah, Pearland, Clear Lake, and Galveston. If you're in the Galveston Island area and want lights on a beach house or vacation rental, we can do that too β just note that saltwater environments are harder on equipment so we factor that in.
If you're interested in booking for this season, reach out early. We'll come take a look at the house, give you a quote, and get you on the calendar before the rush hits.
